Off the coast of Gujarat, Pakistani boat with ten crew members seized

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) seized a Pakistani boat with ten crew members in Indian waters near the Gujarat coast on Sunday, according to a state defense spokeswoman.

An ICG ship caught the boat, dubbed 'Yaseen,' during an operation on Saturday night, according to the official.

In a tweet, the official said, “The Indian Coast Guard ship Ankit apprehended Pakistani boat ‘Yaseen’ with 10 crew in Indian waters at Arabian Sea during night ops on 08 Jan. Boat being brought to Porbandar for further interrogation.”

Last September 15, the ICG seized a Pakistani boat with 12 crew members in Indian seas off the Gujarat coast in a similar operation.

Although there has been an increase in the usage of these boats to carry drugs along the state's coast.

A Pakistani fishing boat with six crew members was caught in Indian waters off the Gujarat coast by the ICG in a combined operation with the state Anti-Terrorist Squad on December 20 last year, carrying 77 kilos of heroin valued at roughly Rs 400 crore.
